Gnaala Karla Booja Charitable Trust
The Gnaala Karla Booja Charitable Trust provides the following support for members:
Funerals - $2,500 per funeral
Seniors - 55+yrs $500pa
Education - 0-5yrs ($250pa per child) and 6-12yrs ($500 pa per child); and
Community Capacity Building Grants (from $5,000)

Funeral assistance
GKB people can apply for funeral assistance by completing the Application for Funeral Assistance Form and providing details of the preferred Funeral company.
$2,500 available per application.
All payments are made direct to suppliers - no cash paid to Applicants.

Seniors assistance
$500 available per year for GKB Elders aged 55+
Eligibility:
One (1) application per year.
Applicants must be 55 years of age to apply.
Applicants must be connected to GKB Apical Ancestors / Country.
Applicants must provide 100 points of certified personal identification.
Personal banking information must be included on the Application Form.
All payments will be made direct to the Applicant’s personal bank account.
Note: Identification must meet 100 points of certified ID (i.e. photocopy of original document certified and signed as a true copy).
Education funding
0 – 5 years of Age - $250 per calendar year; and
Primary School Aged Children - $500 per school year
Funds are available, but not limited to the following Educational related expenses:
School Fees
Uniforms
School Books
Stationery
Swimming Lessons
School Excursions
Tuition.
Eligibility:
One (1) application per child per year
Proof of childcare, kindergarten, playgroup enrolment required
Proof of primary school enrolment required
Proof of swimming school enrolment required
Note: A quote or invoice must be supplied with the application form.
Community Capacity Building
A Community Capacity Building Fund has been allocated towards building GKB community capacity. Community projects will be assessed on their ability to provide long term benefit/s to the broader GKB Community.
This policy has been created to provide financial assistance for community development and capacity building projects that align with the Trusts’ charitable objects and provide a clear vision or strategy to generate long-term benefits for the community.
Funds are available for, but not limited to:
Community Consultation, Participation and Support Projects
Community Programs and Services (including community-based sporting initiatives).
Capacity Building Projects – Education and Training; Health and other social benefits.
Programs for Youth and Future Generations
Promotion and Protection of culture, language and lore
Eligibility:
All Applications will be considered at a meeting of the Advisory Trustees.
All approved projects must be conducted on GKB country.
If the amount being applied for exceeds $10,000 the Advisory Trustees request the Applicant attend the next meeting in person to discuss the proposal before a decision is made.
No decisions will be considered outside a meeting.
